How do you catch Covid 19?
COVID-19 is spread by close contract with people who have the virus, by speaking, coughing and sneezing.
Incubation period
2-7 days
Diagnosis
You are no longer required to do a COVID-19 test if you have symptoms. Diagnosis is generally based on the symptoms and usually self-diagnosed by the person who has the infection.
Prevention
Wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitiser regularly throughout the day, especially after you cough, sneeze or blow your nose, and before you eat or handle food. Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. A vaccine is available which helps reduce the risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19, reduce the risk or catching or spreading and protect against the different strains on COVID-19. This is available through the NHS to people in certain age and risk groups. It is also available privately through MASTA.
Treatment
No specific treatment is available for COVID-19, remedies are available from a pharmacist to help relieve symptoms. Anti-virals and other medicines may be prescribed for people in high-risk groups if needed.
